National Assembly of Kenya Invites Public Participation in Approval of Cabinet Secretary Nominees

  


Nairobi, 24th July 2024 – The National Assembly of Kenya, in accordance with Article 152(2) of the Constitution and the Public Appointments (Parliamentary Approval) Act, Cap. 7F, has issued an invitation for public participation in the approval process for ten individuals nominated by H.E. the President for appointment as Cabinet Secretaries.


The President's nominations cover a range of ministries critical to the functioning of the government. The nominees and their respective ministries are as follows:


1. Hon. (Prof) Kithure Kindiki, PhD., EGH - Ministry of Interior and National Administration

2. Dr. Debra Mingo Barasa - Ministry of Lands, Public Works, Housing, and Urban Development

3. Hon. Alice Wahome, EGH- Ministry of Foreign Affairs

4. Mr. Julius Migos Ogamba- Ministry of Education

5. Hon. Felix Kosgey, EGH - Ministry of Energy and Petroleum

6. Dr. Andrew Mutahi - Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development

7. Hon. Aden Barre Duale, EGH - Ministry of Environment, Climate Change, and Forestry

8. Mr. Eric Murithi Muuga- Ministry of Water, Sanitation, and Irrigation

9. Mr. Davis Chirchir, EGH - Ministry of Roads and Transport

10. Dr. Margaret Nyambura Ndung'u - Ministry of Information, Communication, and the Digital Economy


The National Assembly's Committee on Appointments is responsible for reviewing these nominations. As stipulated under section 6(9) of the Public Appointments (Parliamentary Approval) Act, Cap. 7F, the public is invited to submit written statements on oath regarding the suitability of any candidate before the approval hearings.


Public Participation Process:


Interested parties are encouraged to submit their representations to the Clerk of the National Assembly by either hand delivery to the Office of the Clerk at the Main Parliament Buildings in Nairobi or via email at clerk@parliament.go.ke. The deadline for submissions is Wednesday, 31st July 2024, at 5:00 p.m.
