Hassan Joho: I scored a D- in secondary school but I turned that around

Cabinet Secretary nominee for Mining, Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs Hassan Joho has disclosed that he did not perform well in his secondary school education but he turned that around.

Joho made the remarks when he appeared before the National Assembly committee on appointments on Sunday August 4, 2024 for vetting.

He told the committee that he now holds two degrees from Kampala University and Gretsa University and is on his way to graduating with a Masters degree from one of the most prestigious universities in the world.

“I did not do well in my secondary school. I got a D (minus) but I turned that around. Today I hold two degrees and I am currently pursuing a master’s degree at the most prestigious university in the world,” said Hassan Joho.

The former Mombasa governor added that he did not have an easy upbringing and he had to contribute to paying for his school fees.
