Haiti Gang Leader 'Barbecue' Warns Ruto Against Deployment

In a recent interview with W Radio, Cherizier, commonly known as Barbecue, emphasized the pivotal role of Haitian citizens in shaping the nation's future, dismissing foreign interventions as counterproductive. He asserted that the solution for peace in Haiti lies within its people, highlighting the need to address systemic issues and improve living conditions.

Barbecue questioned the motives behind international support, cautioning against foreign interference driven by vested interests. He firmly stated, "The solution to the problem of Haiti is in Haitians, no other country should intervene. Each country defends its interests...What we need is to change our living conditions."

Despite Kenya's plan to lead a peacekeeping mission by deploying 1,000 security officers to Haiti, the initiative has been temporarily halted following Prime Minister Ariel Henry's resignation. Additionally, the United States issued a 24-hour ultimatum to Haitian gangs to nominate a representative for the transitional council tasked with appointing an interim Prime Minister.

Barbecue remained unfazed by Ariel Henry's resignation, emphasizing the ongoing struggle for Haiti's liberation. He emphasized, "We do not care about Ariel Henry's resignation. We will continue the fight for Haiti's liberation."

Expressing his concern for Haiti's economy, Barbecue clarified that his intentions were not political and underscored the need for improvement without assuming any political positions. He identified politicians as the root cause of Haiti's challenges, highlighting the disparity between political rhetoric and tangible actions.

Barbecue reflected on his relationship with the late President Jovenel Moise, acknowledging their differing views but recognizing Moise's aspiration for change. He warned against stagnation, urging for transformative leadership to prevent further violence and unrest.

In conclusion, Barbecue's insights shed light on the complex dynamics shaping Haiti's future. As the nation navigates political transitions and external pressures, his message underscores the importance of citizen empowerment and local solutions in fostering lasting peace and prosperity.
