Tragic KDF Helicopter Crash Prompts Urgent National Security Council Meeting

In a devastating turn of events, a Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) helicopter crashed in Kaben, Marakwet East, sparking an emergency response from the highest levels of government. The Defence Council, chaired by the Defence Cabinet Secretary, has been called into an emergency meeting to assess the situation and formulate a response strategy.

The ill-fated Kenya Air Force Huey Helicopter, reportedly carrying 12 individuals, including high-ranking officers, tragically went down shortly after takeoff from a local primary school. Eyewitnesses described a harrowing scene as the helicopter burst into flames upon impact, leaving only one survivor, believed to be a photographer.

The crash occurred as the officers aboard were conducting a survey of the area ahead of a planned deployment to combat cattle rustlers, underscoring the critical nature of their mission. The area was promptly cordoned off following the incident, as authorities worked to secure the crash site and initiate investigations into the cause of the tragedy.

In response to the gravity of the situation, President William Ruto has convened an urgent meeting of the National Security Council at State House Nairobi. The meeting aims to address the aftermath of the KDF helicopter crash and coordinate a comprehensive response to the unfolding crisis.
