GOVERNMENT DECLARES Monday, June 17, 2024, a public holiday to mark Idd-ul-Adha.

The government has officially declared Monday, June 17, 2024, a public holiday in observance of Idd-ul-Adha. This announcement was made earlier today to allow citizens ample time to prepare for the festivities associated with this significant Islamic holiday.

Idd-ul-Adha, also known as the "Festival of Sacrifice," is one of the most important holidays in the Islamic calendar. It commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God. This festival is marked by special prayers, communal feasts, and acts of charity.

In a statement, the Ministry of Interior emphasized the importance of this holiday in promoting national unity and cultural understanding. "Idd-ul-Adha is a time for reflection, community, and compassion. It is an opportunity for all citizens, regardless of their faith, to come together and celebrate the values of sacrifice and generosity," the statement read.

Public institutions, schools, and most businesses will be closed on this day to allow citizens to fully participate in the celebrations. Essential services, however, will remain operational to ensure the safety and convenience of the public.
