Rebecca Miano will not be part of the new cabinet after reportedly requesting President William Ruto to withdraw her name from the list submitted to the National Assembly for vetting.
On Tuesday evening, reports indicated that Miano asked Ruto to remove her nomination and assign her lighter duties instead.
Earlier, speculation arose when her name did not appear in the list read by Speaker Moses Wetangula and submitted to the National Assembly.
While addressing MPs, Speaker Wetang'ula announced 10 names for consideration, 1 short of the 11 nominated by Ruto last week.
“Honourable Members, Standing Order 42(1) relating to 'Messages from the President' provides that: ‘The Speaker shall read to the House any message from the President delivered to the Speaker for communication to the House."
"In this regard, I wish to convey to the House that I have received a message from His Excellency the President, notifying the nomination of various persons for appointment to the Offices of Cabinet Secretaries,” Speaker Wetangula communicated.
